Pilot Landing

The Pilot Script for “0110” is now complete.

It feels quite odd but very exciting all the same. All Scribes have - in the most beautiful fashion - ‘done their bit’ for now, and the stories have been moulded, melded and well and truly mixed. In addition, the full six part Series is also demonstrating signs of having a very large life of its own, one which will quite easily lend itself to Series Two, Three...

It is paperwork city on this 24/7 outfit at the moment. Storyboards, character lists, location lists, treatments, breakdowns, scripts, future storylines, artwork, music, biographies, diagrams, charts and general to do lists are just some pieces of paper clambering for attention.

But now it’s time for an intense period of double and triple checking before we start on a whole new chapter in the life of 0110: the path to commission.

List of Lists

The “0110 List” is a rapid and ever-growing succession of words and figures, but one tiny glance in its direction states one important thing: we’re nearly there. The full season product, the pilot, the teaser, the promo: every element is teetering on the edge of completion and now needs to be scooped up and a final piece of formula added to the equation.

Today, 0110 Composer, Sam Watts, let loose his very first musical interpretation and immediately created the production urge to storyboard various scenes and items. Sam later uttered that the inspiration on 0110 is extremely cyclic(al) - and that is pretty much it in a nutshell. Birth, life, death. The eps actually go through that cycle - not in physical terms on screen but emotionally; the series will also move through the cycle working on that very base-level principle.

What has now been created (or very nearly) is the final stages of gestation of 0110; by the time you near the end of the Pilot episode, as an audience you will have travelled through an odd hour - the final stages of labour, if you like; and by the end of the episode, you will feel the new entity has been born - the DNA of which, consists all the threads and elements just observed.

But what have you observed? Everyone will be different.

You may walk away with a smirk and a giggle, thinking it was entertaining; you may shrug your shoulders and think, "So what?"; you may have it pop into your head for a few days afterwards, whilst you ruminate on certain details - were they important or not? You may even dream about it, wondering where your reality ends and 0110 begins. Whatever you think, we hope it makes an impression on you.

Many brilliant ideas fall by the wayside and are never even seen by the viewing public, which is a great pity and so much hard teamwork, brilliance and dedication has gone into this project that we hope it succeeds just for that reason alone. But then this project has one element - one very important element - woven through the core of its very being: the zerooneonezero effect.

And you’re not sure what that is yet, are you?

Converge We Did

The 0110 Session was once again, an historical day. Another long, intense day, but one which achieved all it set out to do and more.

In our central London board room, we had a table reading of the full Pilot Script, gave notes, made alterations, added, deleted, laughed, sniggered at roast lamb slices, ate, drank and sniggered some more. We then moved onto the Series plots, twists and turns, discussing options and laughing raucously at each other as only a tight knit team can without taking personal offence.

A brilliant day which merged into a very late night of further chats, alcohol and snacks.

I smiled all the way home clutching my getting-bigger-by-the-day 0110 File. I know I was beaming, because people stared at me; thought I was some kind of nutcase. But they hadn’t had my day and I didn’t give a hoot anyway.

Closer.

The Convergence

Tomorrow sees our second Scribe Session. This time we will be gathered around such a very large and grand boardroom table, I feel we should be plotting world domination and, in our own sweet way, we actually are. Earlier in the day, we will be joined by our lovely Script Editor, Elinor Perry-Smith and then later on, a certain charming Composer, Sam Watts, will be entering the fray.

It will be a hugely intense day once again, make no mistake - we have lots of ground to cover in relation to both the Pilot episode and the entire Series; but having stated that, it will most definitely be a very enjoyable day too - who couldn’t enjoy the company of the 0110 Teams?

We’re almost there you know? Just very nearly. A certain kind of unison has swept its cloak over all involved - if they haven’t felt it yet, they’ll walk away with a chunk of it tomorrow evening.

Chilling Drafts

Last week saw the first major deadline for the Scribes - submission of their first drafts.

The drafts were read as they came in - some before Christmas, some arrived on the nose of New Year, others in time for the actual deadline - but the one thing they all have in common, apart from being absolutely top class? Fluidity. One story merges into another which merges into another and so on. Just the way it was always meant to be.

We have another Scribe Session coming up soon in order for us to map out all the remaining series elements and tangents, then everyone will go away and do their “thing” on their 2nd and (most likely) final draft. Once they are complete - the sky is the limit.

I hope you packed your safety harness.

The Blank Canvas

The new year is unfolding. It usually feels like a blank canvas, a bare whitewashed wall begging for a carefully chosen picture, but this year is different - there is already a feint inscription.

Perhaps it was written in that special ink used in spy movies? Or even a childish crayon that will need to be painted over in gaudy primary colours to reveal its secret? However it comes to light, there is a fantastic energy already surrounding this year.
